Saugerties Defeated Glens Falls 7-3 at Cantine Field on Wednesday Night
SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — Andres Auffant (Franklin Pierce) was on the mound for the Stallions, tossing 5 solid innings against Glens Falls and holding them to just 2 runs during his outing. Kai Janowicz (UC Davis) earned the win. In the bottom of the sixth, Saugerties took the lead 3-2 and would never surrender it.
Auffant's counterpart, Jack Sylvia (St. Lawrence), threw five and a third innings allowing just 3 runs on four hits while striking out eight — he earned the loss. He was taken out in the sixth inning and replaced by Keegan Jarvais (Brockport), who finished the final four innings.
The sixth inning is where the Stallions offense came alive, scoring two runs with Noah Berghammer (Minnesota) and Albert Jennings (Washington St.) driving in a run apiece.
Then in the seventh, three runs scored by the Stallions gave them a 6-2 lead. Josh Stevenson (LSU) led off with a hit-by-pitch; two batters later JP Tighe (Georgia Southern) drove him in on a double. After Kip Fougerousse (Indiana) walked, Jarrett Brown (Georgia Southern) singled to drive in Tighe, and Andrew Wilhite (Minnesota) drove in Fougerousse on a sacrifice fly.
In the eighth, Glens Falls got one back when Michael Gorman (Chapman) scored on an Andrew Gough (Middlebury) sacrifice fly. The Stallions answered back when Berghammer scored in the bottom half of the eighth on a defensive indifference to make it a 7-3 game.
Jarek Woodward (Grand Canyon) came in to shut the door, striking out the first batter in the ninth, giving up a hit, then getting the final batter of the game to ground into a double play.
In total, Saugerties had seven hits and left nine runners on base. The Dragons had 4 hits and stranded six on base. Both teams had one error on the night.
